Dr. Joseph W. Aguiar is board certified in plastic surgery. He has completed fellowships and educational seminars in plastic surgery, microsurgery, maxillofacial trauma and reconstruction, and rhinoplasty (nose surgery). During his more than 15 years of experience, he has published several articles in peer-reviewed medical journals on a variety of plastic and reconstructive surgery topics.

Dr. Aguiar earned his medical degree at the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 1991, followed by his internship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He went on to complete residencies in plastic surgery at Indiana University Medical Center and in hand surgery at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Dr. Aguiar speaks fluent Portugese and some Spanish. Outside the office, he enjoys photography, computers, playing the saxophone, jazz music and SCUBA diving.
